Fr. Steven Costello, LC was ordained a priest on December 12, 2011. Prior to entering the Legionaries of Christ in 2000, he majored in Music Education at the University of Central Florida. His main instrument is trombone and he particularly enjoys Mahler’s Symphonies. In 2012, he began graduate studies at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in Washington, DC. In December, 2018, he earned his doctorate in Sacred Theology (STD). His thesis focused on understanding the human person in light of the heart of Christ, that is, as centered and grounded in love. During his six years in DC, he occasionally preached at parishes and Our Lady of Bethesda Retreat Center, and served as chaplain at Challenge camps as well as at courses at the Theology of the Body Institute. During the 2017-2018 academic year, he served as chaplain at Divine Mercy University in Arlington, VA. He enjoys teaching and helping others discover the splendor of the truth of God, themselves, and the world, to see that at the heart of everything lies the profound and life-changing mystery of gift!
