Fr Simon Devereux, LC was born on February 4, 1979, in Dunedin, New Zealand, the seventh son of Marie and Michael Devereux. He graduated from John McGlashan High School in 1996; his last year being also Head Boy. He entered the novitiate of the Legionaries of Christ in Cheshire, Connecticut, on September 15, 1997. After his novitiate and year of humanities in Cheshire, he traveled to Rome to study Philosophy at the Legion’s Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum. Upon obtaining his bachelor’s in 2002, he spent three years of apostolic internship was spent in Quebec, Canada in youth ministry.  In 2005, he returned to the Eternal City and made his perpetual profession on October 4th.  Five more years of study followed as he obtained a licentiate in Philosophy and a bachelor’s degree in Theology. On Christmas Eve, 2010, he was ordained a priest by Card. Velasio di Paolis.  Since then, Fr Simon has been working at the Legion of Christ seminary in Cheshire, Connecticut, as director of Development and Communications.  Two of his siblings are also Legionary priests.  Fr Simon is an avid tennis player and enjoys playing the guitar, poetry and making videos.
